The Collings Foundation’s F4U-5NL Corsair flies past the photo pit during last year’s Thunder Over Michigan airshow. While the start of this year’s airshow season has been delayed, I’m looking forward to its eventual start and the opportunity to see these magnificent aircraft take flight.
Another from the archives. I was looking for photo and stumbled across this one from the spiral staircase at Peabody. I completely forgot I took this one a couple years ago.
Working on my backlog of miscellaneous images. I was in Fishersville Virginia last November for the Virginia Woodturning Symposium. The weather was good so I stopped by Raven’s Roost Overlook in search of the Milky Way.
Hard to believe it has been 8 years since I took this photo of Mesa Arch in Canyonlands National Park. If you’ve heard the stories about this place, there is often dozens of photographers jockeying for position at sunrise. On this particular morning, I was the only one there. Sometimes you just get lucky.
More Steam and Snow from the archive. This time from a 2016 charter on the Reading and Northern. Heavy snow on Saturday turned to rain on Sunday which gave us some great atmospheric effects, including the ground fog seen outside the tunnel.
As usual with the last post of the year, I’d like to share a few favorite images. The image above is from the Wiscasset Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum in Alna, ME. A place I visited for the first time this year and look forward to seeing again. Below is the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad, also a first visit for me and I’m looking forward to visiting again in March to see a rare articulated logging locomotive run:
Next is Multnomah Falls, located in the Columbia River Gorge:
Photographing B-29 Superfortress ‘Doc” was a happy accident and lots of fun:
The opportunity to photograph the battle from within the French Village at Mid Atlantic Air Museum’s WWII Weekend was another highlight:
As was photographing the wonderful reenactors:
Can’t forget Klotz. I had two opportunities to photograph this incredible time capsule:
And as always, I’m still working on editing photos from a few trips. Including a second trip to Klotz, Disney, Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, the Strasburg Railroad and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hopefully I’ll get those posted soon.
Fall color at Abrams Falls in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I took this one on a trip a couple years ago. I hope to get back there in the next couple of years.
