Through The Lens 159 – Happy New Year!

Early Morning in the Yard

As usual with the last post of the year, I’d like to share a few favorite images. The image above is from the Wiscasset Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum in Alna, ME. A place I visited for the first time this year and look forward to seeing again. Below is the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad, also a first visit for me and I’m looking forward to visiting again in March to see a rare articulated logging locomotive run:

Hathaway Slough Trestle

Next is Multnomah Falls, located in the Columbia River Gorge:

Multnomah Falls Moonrise

Photographing B-29 Superfortress ‘Doc” was a happy accident and lots of fun:

The opportunity to photograph the battle from within the French Village at Mid Atlantic Air Museum’s WWII Weekend was another highlight:

As was photographing the wonderful reenactors:

Can’t forget Klotz. I had two opportunities to photograph this incredible time capsule:

And as always, I’m still working on editing photos from a few trips. Including a second trip to Klotz, Disney, Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, the Strasburg Railroad and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hopefully I’ll get those posted soon.

Happy New Year!

Through The Lens 158 – Merry Christmas

The holiday finale shown at the end of IllumiNations during the Christmas season has always been a favorite of mine. The photo above shows all 228 seconds of the finale.

“During this glorious time of year there is one message that rings out around the world in every language. Peace on earth. Good will to men is a wish to hold in our hearts throughout each passing year. A gift of immeasurable value. A treasure being handed down with care, from generation to generation. And so our holiday wish is that everyone, everywhere share in the spirit of the season. Peace on earth, good will to men.”

-Narration by Walter Cronkite

Merry Christmas!

Through The Lens 157 – Williamsburg Christmas

I didn’t make it down to Williamsburg this year to photograph the Christmas decorations but thought I’d share one from the archives. The creativity of the folks making the decorations is incredible.

Happy Friday!

Trip Report – Klotz Throwing Company June 2018

In June I had the opportunity to photograph Klotz Throwing Company for the third time. With the roof rapidly deteriorating, I made sure not to miss this opportunity. On this trip, I focused on the details.

Through The Lens 156 – Klotz Throwing Company

A little ground fog appeared in the basement of the Klotz Throwing Company after a brief rain shower during the June Abandoned America Workshop. One of those right place, right time type of moments. I hope to see Klotz again, but given the roof condition this year, I’m fearful that I’ve made my last visit.

Look for a trip report on Tuesday.

Happy Friday!
